MENTAL HEALTH

Mental Health Awareness

Mental Health, and the awareness of it, has never been so important. Developing an understanding of mental health issues, as well as how to best support someone experiencing these issues, can help to reduce the stigma associated with mental health.

Every year, 1 in 4 people will experience mental health problems

The Stevenson Farmer review of mental health and employers concluded that the UK faces a significant mental health challenge. They found that 300,000 people with a long-term mental health problem lose their job every year; this is much higher than that of people with a physical health condition.

Did you know…

In 2017/18, 595,000 workers suffered from work-related
stress, depression, or anxiety and as a result, 15.4 million working days were lost?

Stevenson and Farmer found that those with psychotic conditions are less likely to be in work than those with common conditions, for example depression and anxiety.

Interestingly, the review found that employees tend to perceive that having a mental health condition could hamper their career progression; this perception is generally because of the stigma that surrounds mental health.

Through our courses we are taking small steps to lifting and removing the stigma. We want to see mental health recognised in the same way as that of a physical condition.

All our courses are taught using our FIRST principles.

Our philosophy revolves around ensuring that you have a fun experience on your course; research has shown that if you learn in a light-hearted way, regardless of subject, the more information that is retained.

No more will you be sat in a training course watching the clock tick round wishing it was home time.
